About the Internship Program

The Beaverton School District is offering high school students ages 17 or older the opportunity to explore potential career paths in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry with our summer internship program. There are 10 paid positions available: four positions working directly with BSD and six positions working with our AEC partners.

Selected candidates will gain real-world experience in fields such as architecture, engineering, building trades, construction and construction management. Interns also may get hands-on experience in other areas such as web design, video production, communications, operations and office administration.

Participants in BSD’s summer internship program will work in a professional environment alongside industry experts, allowing them to develop practical skills, build a network of professional contacts and gain valuable insights into the AEC industry. These hands-on experiences not only enhance their resumes but also assist them in making informed decisions about potential career paths.

All candidates must submit a letter of interest with their application. Applicants selected for an internship after the interview process will be matched with a partnering company and assigned to an internship position based on their relevant goals, interests and experience.

We encourage all interested students to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with clear goals for a career in the AEC industry or related field.

Please note: Our system currently only accepts applications from students who select that they are 18 years old. We understand many applicants are 17, so as a workaround, all applicants should answer "yes" when asked if they are 18 to ensure their application is processed.

Opportunities

Operations Intern at Bosch:

Our intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in warehouse operations and material handling.

Construction Management and Administration Interns (3) at Beaverton School District:

These interns will assist project managers, coordinators, inspectors and support staff with tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, coordinating subcontractors, scanning and operations projects. They will gain experience with project documentation, safety protocols and quality control processes. Additionally, these interns will have the opportunity to attend site meetings, interact with various partners and learn about the different phases of architecture, engineering and construction projects.

Construction Management and Communications Intern at Beaverton School District:

This intern will have the similar experiences and opportunities to the Construction Management Intern position above, with additional exposure to various marketing and communications tasks. This may include video production (shooting and editing), photography, writing and social media management.

Technology Systems Intern at GB Manchester:

At GB Manchester, we are a technology systems company looking for a summer intern to assist with administrative tasks and gain direct exposure to the industry.

Project engineer intern at Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company:

KNCC will provide interns with a well‑rounded experience designed to give a broad and practical understanding of working for a General Contractor. Interns will spend time with our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team, Estimating team, Project Managers and Project Engineers. Throughout these rotations, they will gain hands‑on experience with industry‑standard tools used for VDC, estimating, scheduling, and project management.

In addition to working closely with these teams, interns will participate in site visits to active construction sites, offering valuable real‑world context and firsthand insight into the construction process.

Project engineer intern at P & C Construction:

This summer, our intern will closely shadow and work alongside our project engineer on-site. They will also attend project meetings and assist with document management.

Project engineer intern at Pence Construction:

Our summer intern will work in a real-world capacity, gaining exposure to the life cycle of a project through the lens of a Project Engineer. Interns can expect to learn core construction competencies, understand safety protocols, and develop an appreciation for what it takes to become a builder. They will also develop lasting connections within the industry. Students interested in a career in construction at any level are encouraged to apply!

Project engineer intern at Robinson Construction Company:

This year’s intern will split time between Robinson’s main office and BSD’s Allen Transportation Center project site. Their duties will primarily include assisting the Project Engineer and the site team with document control and management. They will also shadow every department of project management from conception to completion. This may include completing takeoffs for our estimating team, assisting the marketing team with our latest subcontractor outreach program, and supporting Project Manager Assistants with project start-up or closeout procedures.

Application and letter of interest deadline is 8 a.m. on Monday, April 13.
Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted April 22 - April 24 and assigned an interview time.
Interviews with selected candidates will be held on May 6 and May 7 between 3:30 to 8 p.m. at the District Administrative Office.
